Maca Cherry Bowl

Life’s just a bowl of cherries for me lately.

I’m back living is San Diego after 4+ years of moving all around California and I’m loving it. The sun is brighter, the sky is bluer, the ocean is warmer. SD is definitely my happy place.

As if i could be anymore enthusiastic, in my search for my new yoga home I stumbled upon a brand new studio that doubles as a bouldering gym! WHAT?!?! This is something I’ve been desiring for YEARS. Grotto Climbing and Yoga is basically my new favorite thing and I’ll be sharing more about it in a future post. But for now, lemme just say that my lats are sore, my hands are burning, and my heart is happy.

Here’s another thing that makes me happy…

an actual bowl of cherries! (with a twist, of course)

Make this as a recovery snack or anytime you need a clean, yummy treat.

Smoothie

Maca Cherry Bowl

1 1/2 c. frozen cherries
1/4 c. soaked cashew pieces
1/2 small avocado
2 dates
handful of spinach
1 tsp. maca powder
sprinkle of sea salt
1/4-1/2 c. water

optional: 1 scoop of your fav protein powder (chocolate goes great with cherries!)

toppings:
cacao nibs
unsweetened, shredded coconut
sliced banana or fresh berries

  1. In a high-speed blender*, using the tamper, blend all ingredients except for the toppings. The less water you use, the more thick your bowl will be (like an acai bowl).
  2. Using a spatula, serve in a bowl and top with preferred toppings.

*if you don’t have a high speed blender, you will likely need more water to blend well and it will turn out thinner like a smoothie. Stop the blender and scrape down the sides and add as little water as possible as you try to thoroughly blend everything.
