Coconut Kale Smoothie

Naturewell in Silverlake. This place is the inspiration for today’s post.

Here’s the dilemma:

I could drive to LA, navigate traffic, find parking on Sunset Blvd (not an easy feat), then pay $7.50 for a 20 oz. coconut kale smoothie OR I could make my own beverage in the comfort of my kitchen for a FRACTION of the cost. The most expensive thing in this ingredient list is the baby coconut which will set me back about $1.50 – $2.00.

I think the choice is obvious.

Coconut Kale Smoothie

4 leaves of dino (AKA lacinto, black) kale
1 baby coconut, water and meat.
1 banana, frozen, cut into chunks
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp almond butter (optional)

  1. Blend until smooth.
